Off Time= DIY!

Gooood Morning!
Today is only Tuesday and already I feel so accomplished! I have two weeks off of work until the new school year begins. I say I have two weeks off.... I have pretty much filled up everyday with work! lol :)
Yesterday, I went to babysit some of the kids from ACS, then I went shopping with my birthday money and bought everything to create this:

What I really wanted for my birthday was a new mattress, because ours is old and uncomfortable. Well, since we really can't afford a new one right now I came up with this solution! I had $153 of birthday money and this is what I came up with.....

Feather bed topper: $39.99
Duvet and shams: $39.99
(2) Sealy Posterpedic Pillows: $11.99 each
Egyptian Satain Sheets: $39.99
Cute Black and White dress: $9.99 (not pictured) lol

Total $153.94

YAY!!!!!!!!!!

Last night I don't think I tossed or turned all night! I slept so good and comfortable! I am very happy with my decision to "re-vamp" my mattress! :)

Today i used to left over materiel that my aunt gave me to give my dining room chairs and fresh clean look. I recovered them all with this neutral color. Cost to me ----> $0!! Yay!
Finally, I found these curtains on clearance at Big Lots yesterday for $6.99! It was time for a change. The other curtains were looking pretty ragged thanks to Oscar and the cats for pulling on them all the time. By the way... the two accents on top are just there for now until I finish fixing the side hooks. They will come down. I don't like them there. I'm using the curtain rod as a holder so the cats don't destroy them while I'm working. LOL
I must say... I feel like I have gotten so much done already! Tonight Maw, Joanie and I are all going to play Bingo in Denham Springs. I am so excited! I love Bingo.. and my Maw of course!

Oh! I have so many DIY projects in store for these two weeks off..... here are a few things I would like to work on:

Re-organize pantry

Frame some new pictures

Get a coffee table for the living room

Anyway.... back to work....... Happy DIY!!!

Erin

Thrift Store Finds!

Hi Everythingers!!!
I went to the local Goodwill with my mom yesterday and look what I found!!!! Arn't these retro canisters just adorable?!?! I only paid $2 a piece for them! When I first saw them I thought I would cover up the names on the canisters with chalkboard paint...but the more I looked at them, the more I thought that they were just so cute the way they are! So..... I decided to leave them as is.
The thrift store had all sorts of cool stuff.....I am going to go back after Christmas and buy some clothes with cool looking patterns and I am going to make some stuff!!! hahahah!
If you never visit the thrift stores in your area.....you should definitely check them out...sometimes they are gold mines!

Happy Thrifting!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is my Mother's 50th Birthday! It's her very merry birthday........ today....hooray!!! Anyway, I decided I would make her this small little cake. It was just a simple box cake and I dyed the icing blue, but I think it's cute. Sometimes I find that less can sometimes be more :)

Happy Birthday Mom!!!!

Scrap Bag

So this morning I woke up early hungry to create something. So I got a couple of old t-shirts and an old hospital gown I had. I cut them into strips and sewed them together. The hospital gown had a big sewn in pocket on the front of the gown, so I cut out the pocket and sewed it to the inside of the bag. I used and orange t-shirt as the lining. For the strap I cut a long strip of the gown and twisted it, tying knots as I twisted it all the way down, then sewed it onto the bag.
This was a super easy project and super fun and fast....and the best part about this project is that it was FREE!!!!!!!
I had an old head band that had a cut black flower on it that I removed and just safety pinned it onto the bag....... viola!!! cuteness!!!
I hope you think this bag is cute too, and I hope it inspires you to make one of your own :)

Happy Scrapping!
